How to Support Young Participants Effectively

1–2 minutes

Starting with a new provider can feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve had mixed experiences before.

So I wanted to share exactly how I support brand-new participants when they come on board with me.

Here’s how I do it:

Step 1: We slow it down

No rushing, no pressure. I take time to understand the young person, their story, and what actually matters to them.

Step 2: We get clear on goals

Not big, vague goals — but small, practical ones that build confidence and independence over time.

Step 3: We build trust first

Consistency, predictability, and showing up matter more than fancy plans.

Step 4: We work at the young person’s pace

Support is tailored — not one-size-fits-all.

Right now, I have capacity to take on 2 new participants. This is specifically in the Liverpool and Western / South-Western Sydney areas. I support young people both in-home and in the community.

If you’re supporting a young person who needs the right fit, please feel free to reach out. You can also contact us if you’d like to learn more.

My focus for 2026 is simple:

Making sure young people get the support they actually need, not just what’s available.
